My volunteering experience at “Wanna Read?”

I got to achieve my first volunteering experience through twofour54’s CSR initiative #untied4UAE. As exciting as it was to be a part of this, I was nervous, mostly because I never had such an opportunity where I am required to read to young children at a hospital. I felt they might think I was boring or not fun. Yet I never thought a task as simple as reading a sweet story can put the biggest smile on children’s faces. Being a new mother myself, this experience was an eye opener for life’s ever changing unexpected circumstances that we all should be strong enough to handle. Besides reading a story, we also played games and did puzzles together which was a lot fun, they didn’t want me to leave which made me want to stay with them for a longer time than planned. It all started here, by registering on the #united4uae campaign microsite, www.united4uae.com, participating to volunteer was the easiest part to submit online; then a contact person from the non-profit organisation contacted me to schedule my volunteer visit.‎ And so the journey began…have wrapped up my experience in a video to give you a feel of what great outcome came from such a small and fun task. I highly recommend everyone to join this campaign, as it will make a difference in not only the children’s life, but it will give meaning to yours.
